​Salon Sovay​​

Sovay's passion for hair started as a shampoo assistant at a prestigious salon in Alexandria, Virginia while attending high school.  During this time, she also worked at a salon in Washington, D.C. where she would assist with blow dry styles. 

​

​After graduating from college, she began a career as a pharmaceutical representative for over 6 years and faithfully kept her velcro rollers close by in her glove compartment...never straying far from her true calling.       

During her last year in pharmaceutical sales, Sovay attended night school at the Academy at Austin, A Paul Mitchell Partner School.

​She styled hair on a movie set, photo shoots, and quickly developed a loyal clientele booked weeks in advance as a student.  While Sovay was attending Paul Mitchell Academy, Shari Harbinger (Color Director at Devachan Salon in New York City) was in Austin, Texas to conduct an educational color class.  She approached one of Sovay's clients and asked who was coloring her hair.  Shari immediately phoned Sovay to compliment her work having no idea she was just a student.

As a result of this positive feedback from the hair industry and clients, Sovay decided to return back to her roots, took an early retirement from the corporate pharmaceutical world, and opened her first hair salon 4 months after graduation from Paul Mitchell Academy in January 2007.  She opened her second hair salon, Salon Sovay...next door, in July 2015.

​In an attempt to continue her education, Sovay has also completed a week long  one on one preceptorship  with Beth Minardi in New York, considered one of the best hair colorists in the world.

​

Currently, Sovay has a passion for and focuses exclusively on long hair (chin and longer) and natural surfer/sun inspired highlights.  Her work can be seen on Yelp, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, Google, and Blog page.  She currently accepts clients on a case by case basis.
